Bedbugs are a huge problem in North American urban areas because cities are so heavily populated. These bugs are easily transferable, they do not cling to our skin but instead stick to our belongings (clothes, purses, luggage, etc).
Typical places where they can be found are in motels and hotels, other households, public transportation, hospitals, and other buildings.
Unlike cockroaches and rodents, they are unaffected by sanitation. You're the food source.
Bed Bugs are flattened, oval shaped bugs with a light brown to reddish-brown color. Their average body length ranges from about 1-5 millimeters. Bedbugs essentially feed on the blood of warm-blooded animals. The common bedbugs found in households, which feed on humans and household pets are known as Cimex Lectularius.
They are attracted to carbon dioxide and the body heat that humans give off.
They have the ability to travel over 20 feet from hiding in order to feed,
but are usually found 3 to 6 feet from the hosts.
Bedbugs are mainly found in mattresses, sofas, bed frames, baseboards and under carpets.
Signs of bedbugs are black dotted stains on your mattresses, pillows, couches, etc., also bite marks on exposed skin, which are usually in a line consisting of 2 to 6 bites.
Many develop an itchy red welt after being bitten. Health effects that may result from being bitten include skin rashes, allergic symptoms, and psychological effects.
What makes these bloodsuckers an ideal pest is their capability to survive for extended periods without feeding for up to 1 year.
Bye-Bye Bed Bugs
DON'T USE
Do-it-yourself "bombs" or "foggers"
...that target bugs by filling entire rooms with aerosol insecticide are billed as an easy, cost-effective alternative to pricey pro exterminators.
Foggers and bombs, although these products are indeed cheap, retailing at hardware stores for around $10, if you use them on bed bugs you're likely to get what you pay for and something you didn't want*
In a new study, the first of its kind to be published, entomologists at Ohio State University tested three commercially available foggers - sold under the Hot Shot, Spectracide, and Eliminator brands, respectively - and concluded that all three products were virtually useless at fighting bed bug infestations.
*In my experience foggers and bombs almost always make your bed problem worse.
They have repellent properties driving surviving bed bug populations deeper into hiding places. This includes furnishings, wall voids, attics, and even into other rooms.
Bed bugs can be difficult to control, requiring proper preparation and an experienced trained technician to solve your bed bug problem.
Traditional Bed Bug Solutions:
Heat:
While many people would like to think you can heat a room to 140 Degrees and the problem will be solved, the fact remains the temperature in the voids where the bed bugs are hiding under dressers, in drawers etc are still room temperature.
*Heat is a good tool to have but won't do the job alone.
Steam:
The problem with steam is it requires close contact and doesn't have a good flushing ability. Steam works great as an IPM tool and close contact kill. However it will not penetrate with killing power deep into the voids where the bed bugs are hiding. In fact the further distance you are from the nozzle, the air is pushed by the steam and the air is cold scattering the bedbugs.
*Steam is a good tool to have but won't do the job alone.
Heat & steam methods have varying degrees of success..
However they are all Missing the Deep Void Penetration and Long Lasting Residual Protection.
Bugzilla 3 Step Treatment Process:
After the room or rooms to be treated are prepared
1. Using an Exacticide Precision Duster and brush applicator all mattresses and boxsprings are treated with CimeXa Bed Bug treatment.
University studies support along with my own experience, have shown this product is unexcelled in effective long term control of bed bugs in specific treatment zones.
Once the mattresses and boxsprings are treated they are placed in a Bed Bug Proof
Encasement. This "locks out" bed bugs from your mattress and boxspring into the future. It also works well against dust mites.
2. Bugzilla uses the Actisol Bed Bug killing Machine, also called micro injection,
killing bed bugs with great success over many years.
Micro injection generates aerosol droplets under 5 micron. The powerful aerosol motor pushes the bed bug killing particles deep into the voids where bed bugs hide:
Box springs, outlets, furniture, picture frames, electronic devices, you name it, point and shoot with deep void penetration. *The active ingredient of the solution will kill the bed bugs on contact, and the residual solution for void injections will kill the eggs.

Heat, steam, and regular compressed air pesticide sprayers are all missing the deep void penetration of micro injection.
3. Aprehend perimeter biopesticide treatment.
Aprehend® is composed of Beauveria bassiana fungal spores applied in a proprietary formulation (patent pending). Aprehend is sprayed strategically in narrow bands where bed bugs are known to walk; direct spray contact is not necessary.
Bed bugs of all life stages, sex or feeding status are killed within four to ten days following short-term contact with a treated surface.
The fungal spores germinate within 20 hours of contact and then penetrate the cuticle of the bed bug and colonize inside, resulting in death.
Aprehend is a Non toxic biopesticide.
Can be used as a quarterly treatment - Due to its excellent long-term activity, Aprehend® will provide three months protection from the establishment of bed bug infestations. A regular (quarterly) treatment with Aprehend offers hotels and motels the first and only effective method to protect against bed bug.
Effective Bed Bug control is a multiple step process and there are no shortcuts.
